Paradise near Picton

Whatamonga Home Stay is a unique bed and breakfast experience located in the Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand.

Set in beautiful Waikawa Bay, you can watch ferries, boats and fish splashing below you. Our private suite with balcony to the sea is magnificent with Marlborough Sounds environment. We stayed 2 nights and found it a haven for relaxation and appreciating this wonderful setting.
Twilight is filled with the sounds of wildelife and birdlife, while you watch the reflections on the water. Pure magic. Good beds and extremely friendly staff.

It's difficult to add any more superlatives to what other reviewers have said. Whatamonga was the second homestay of our trip, and that set the bar extremely high! Colette was helpfulness personified, and we would loved to have stayed forever. We couldn't fault a thing if we tried. Thank you Colette for a wonderful stay!

Whatamonga Homestay is just beautiful as you can see from the photos. The stand-alone rooms are very clean and spacious and have a lovely balcony. The rooms in the house are on a separate level with their own external entry.
There is a small fridge and microwave as well as a small bar sink in the freestanding units. Dishes are provided for snacks but no cooking facilities inside the rooms. A grill is available outside on the large deck for grilling. Two friendly kitties live here but are not allowed in the rooms. Good continental breakfast was included.
Colette was an excellent host, very knowledgeable about the area but not intrusive as some B & B hosts are. It was a delight to hear about the area and options for activities and dining at breakfast with her. I feel lucky the place was free during our trip so we could stay here.
The location is about 10 minutes away from Picton on a small windy road, so drive slow or you may miss the driveway.
